Dr. Rohwer

rohwer2.jpgDr. Mark Rohwer is the Director of Choral Activities and Chair of the Performing Arts Department at Flower Mound High School.

Dr. Rohwer has been at FMHS since its opening in the Fall of 1999. Prior to his appointment at Flower Mound High School, he has served on faculties in Mesquite, McHenry (IL), and at The Ohio State University. Dr. Rohwer holds degrees in music education from Northwestern University, the Eastman School of Music, and The Ohio State University.

Dr. Rohwer has published articles relating to music and music education in the Southwestern Musician, the Journal of Music Teacher Education, the Missouri Journal of Research in Music Education, the Pennsylvania Journal of Research in Music Education, and the Southwestern ACDA Publication, Common Times. Rohwer serves on the Editorial Board for the Southwestern Musician and is a reviewer of choral music for the Choral Journal.  He has judged for the UIL in several parts of Texas, and was the guest conductor of the Texas Private School Music Association region middle school honor choir in 2005. He has received teaching awards from both FMHS and the LISD, and was named a 2007 "Choral Director of Note" by Choral Director Magazine.

Rohwer has worked in various posts in the Texas Music Educators Association at both region and state levels, currently serving as the Region 24 Vocal Chair and Area "A" Chair. He has presented sessions and research on a number of topics at the TMEA convention in San Antonio and the Southwestern Division of the ACDA, as well as in other parts of the country, and as far away as Auckland, New Zealand.


Ms. Martinez

Adela Martinez is completing her fifth year as Assistant Director of Choral Activities at Flower Mound High School, where she directs the Mixed Choir, Treble Choir and a treble jazz choir, "Azure." She is a 2003 graduate of the University of North Texas, after having begun her undergraduate work at Victoria College. She was a recipient of the Lewisville Independent School District's Golden Apple Award in 2006.

Ms. Martinez has been active both in the Texas Music Educators Association and in the Texas Choral Directors Association.

 

 

 


Mr. Winston

head_shot_bw.jpgMr. Chris Winston has been the accompanist for the Flower Mound High School choirs since 2001. Mr. Winston is a graduate of the University of North Texas, where he received a degree in piano.While an undergraduate at UNT, he studied with the past chair of the piano department, Dr. Jack Roberts, and studied organ with Dr. Jesse Eschbach. Mr. Winston served as an arranger for Mark Brymer's WoW productions, developing and directing for Warner Brothers’ Six Flags Theme Parks, and, later, took over production for iSong.Com, a Hal Leonard Corporation. Currently he is the Director of Music Ministry for Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Flower Mound, Texas. Mr. Winston is in demand as a teacher, performer and accompanist and maintains an active private studio along with a busy performance schedule. His wife, Rebecca, is active as a soloist and recitalist in the area, and maintains a private studio where several FMHS students study.
