Ashley Townsley, soprano, is a native of Houston, Texas. She holds a Master of Music degree from the University of North Texas and a B.A. from McNeese State University. Stage credits include: La Fée in Massenet’s Cendrillon (UNT Opera), Despina – Così fan tutte (Opera Arlington), Stella in Previn’s A Streetcar Named Desire (UNT), Susanna – Le nozze di Figaro (UNT), Pamina – Die Zauberflöte (LAHSOW), Amor – Orfeo ed Euridice (UNT). Ashley had her Houston Grand Opera debut in 2011, giving the world premiere of Jake Heggie’s song cycle, Pieces of 9/11: Memories from Houston. Ashley has also been featured as a soloist for works including Mozart’s Krönungsmesse, Handel’s Messiah, and Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass with various professional orchestras throughout the United States. Recently, Ashley was the soprano soloist in the world premiere of Milcžinsky’s Oratorium with baroque ensemble, Fantasmi. Ashley is a member of the professional choral group, Orpheus Chamber Singers. This season, Ashley will join The Dallas Opera as an outreach artist in their upcoming production of The Three Little Pigs.
